MEN IN SKIRT
«If you have a skirt worn by a man, is not a disguised it, instead it is if you make him wear a brassiere».
(Jean Paul Gaultier)

by Laura Pacelli

Some, if Jean Paul Gaultier who would dare says it contradict him?
However also the facts give him reason. Who remembers the sarong (dressed of maltese origin) that the football player David Beckham wore and that a lot of clamour even provoked in the "subversive one" capital British? Or shown off of the kilt from "your majesty"   Carlo of England ?  To not talk about the last male parades: John Ritchmond, Laura Biagiotti, Vivienne Westwood, only to mention some, differently interpreted the discussed kilt or, "worse" anchors, the female cloths for excellence, the skirt.

To confirm the kilt-fashion trend is the show Men in skirts prepared to the Victoria and Albert Museum which lodges, until May 12, sixty suits realized by the most famous stylists as Paul Smith, Kenzo, Anna Sui, Burberry and a lot of others. From the classical kilt to the least well known sarong, from the exotic caftano to the british redingote, the exposure leaves space also to the most traditional creations as those of our of the same nationality Carlo Pignatelli approached to the signed most modern caftani Moschino. Among the other complaint suits husband Kurt Cobain of the Nirvana is to remember the trousers with the apron realized by the incorregibile Vivienne Westwood or the baby doll of the singer Courtney Love gone down in history because worn by the ex one. The show includes, among the other, photographic images which represent celebrity of the world of the show and common people dressed with kilt and other "skirts".

For who it could not go to London but it wanted to hear of more, the Men in skirt catalogue will be for sale with a hundred illustrations to colours to care of Andrew Bolton published by the V& To Publications.
